Chandrayaan 3's launch date and time

Chandrayaan 3 is India's third lunar exploration mission, which consists of a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan, similar to those of the Chandrayaan 2 mission.

The mission aims to demonstrate new technologies for interplanetary missions and explore the lunar south pole region, where water ice may exist.

The mission was launched on July 14, 2023, from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, using a Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3) rocket.

The lander and rover successfully landed near the lunar south pole on August 23, 2023, around 18:04 Hrs. IST, making India the first nation to soft-land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole and the fourth country to soft-land on the Moon.

The European Space Agency (ESA) supported the mission by providing tracking and communication services through its European Space Tracking Network (ESTRACK).

The mission objectives include conducting scientific experiments, studying the lunar topography and mineralogy, measuring the lunar surface temperature and seismic activity, and testing the performance of various subsystems.
